Radio Free T.Y.O

CD+COMIC

book the first, audio drama style

This rare and lovely piece is a hardback book with a plastic sleeve inside the front cover for its accompanying CD, covered by the inner part of the book's dust jacket. It's slightly larger than the original tankoubon editions by a few centimetres. It contains a full colour table of contents page printed on what looks to me like chirimengami, Vol.0 T·Y·O, Vol.1 BABEL, an 8-page "making of" section, and a truncated and very slightly edited version of Vol 1.5 DESTINY.

The making-of section, titled "Explanation of a CD", includes the lyrics for the two songs used in the drama (also printed in the third tankoubon), 東京BABYLON CD化おめでとう (Toukyou BABYLON CD-ka Omedetou; Tokyo Babylon CD Release Celebration), a two-page manga special covering the seiyuu's recording process, and cast and staff credits for the CD.

The CD drama covers Vol.1 BABEL from the manga, with some very subtle additions (like people frequently mispronouncing Subaru's surname as a running gag, and turning the romantic tension between Subaru and Seishirou up just a little bit). Just like the OAVs and the other two drama CDs, it features Yamaguchi Kappei as Subaru, Koyasu Takehito as Seishirou, and Itou Miki as Hokuto. Matsui Naoko plays Kazue Katou, the ghost who was causing the observation deck of Tokyo Tower to tremble with her despair and hatred.

CD Track Listing

The disc isn't separated into tracks -- the whole thing runs as one long drama with the OP and the ED meshed with the narrative. However, I've edited and separated it into tracks for those who would rather listen to just the songs. In the unedited single-track download is the disc fully ripped, with no interference from yours truly.

The separate songs are cut by me; while "WHO'S THAT BOY" can be cut cleanly without any dialogue overlap, "DANCIN' IN THE BABYLON" cannot, so I've given you two options: the version simply cut from the original, which contains spoken dialogue over the top of the intro, and the edited version, where I tried as hard as I could to edit out the dialogue.

東京BABYLON CD化おめでとう

A tiny scanlation of the Tokyo Babylon CD Release Celebration mini-manga for your consideration!

Also, just quickly: please don't put these images on your own website. You're free to use them to create avatar icons and other similar graphics, of course, but please don't repost the scanlations without my written permission. I worked really hard on them (aaand may or may not have damaged my book to scan them in...;.;), please honour that by giving out the link to this page if you'd like to share them. Thank you! ♥

Cast & Crew

Linked names will go take you to the Anime News Network (or VGMdb as a backup, as some people can be quite elusive) pages of the individual in question for further information on them and their work. If it's a studio or similar, I'll link to its official page instead (provided it still exists).

Voice Cast

Sumeragi Subaru - 山口勝平 (YAMAGUCHI Kappei)
Sumeragi Hokuto - 伊藤美紀 (ITOU Miki)
Sakurazuka Seishirou - 子安 武人 (KOYASU Takehito)
Tokyo A - 吉田信幸 (YOSHIDA Nobuyuki)
Tokyo B - 鈴木勝美 (SUZUKI Katsumi)
Katou Kazue - 松井菜桜子 (MATSUI Naoko)

"Tokyo A" and "Tokyo B" are the attendants at Tokyo Tower who explained the situation to Subaru (and wanted his autograph). Why they aren't even given a proper job name description, I don't know -- maybe it was too difficult to name them as "Tower attendant A" or suchlike? XD
